There is a lot of talking about Windows Vista and its Aero graphical interface. You may like it or not… that’s okay. But as you know, human beings don’t like changes. You already know that people are still asking for Windows XP pre-installed when they plan to acquire a new computer. I really don’t know what are the reasons not to want Windows Vista, but most of people said that is because of the performance, UAC, etc.
Microsoft have invested a huge sum of money in the development of its new operating system and don’t want to get another WindowsME-like economic failure. So, they are introducing their new Vista-alike interfaces in some of their home use popular programs. The first was Windows Media Player 10.
There was not major changes from the previous version: just the UI and probably some unsolved bugs were repaired. But as you might think, this was strategy. This Windows Media Player version was released at the same time as Windows Vista RTM. I think this was planned to make users to get used to living with this kind of UI.
During this week, Windows Live Messenger prompt me to download a new version. I did it, although it was not obligatory and there was not security reasons to do it. The only change I’ve seen was this:
Yet another Window Vista-alike interface. No improvements and some of my configurations were overwritten (Show Windows Live Today after I sign in to Messenger) for commercial purposes.
But it is not all about Aero, Remote Desktop Connection was also changed…
But this time was a good reason: to support the new version of RDP protocol.
Human beings don’t like changes, Microsoft knows it. However, they’ll force you to switch to Vista, even if you don’t like it.
Do you know more Windows XP programs which have been update to look like Windows Vista’s Aero?

i hate vista full stop (but i do use it) . i would use any distro of linux any day. the only thing vista is good for is gaming coz of DX10 apart for that linux is better in every way. as soon as DX10 can be used in wine i will not need it again.
